I am at present, the Director of New Ventures for ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants – the global body for professional accountants). In this role, I am responsible for ACCA’s delivery of key strategic global initiatives and ventures.
I am currently leading the delivery of http://www.acca-x.com – ACCA’s exciting and world-class online learning solution delivered in partnership with edX (founded by Harvard and MIT) and Epigeum (a spin-off company from the Imperial College, London). I have overseen the programme from its inception to its delivery in 2015 and will continue driving the growth of ACCA-X to support ACCA’s strategic ambitions to 2020.
Previous, I was the head of emerging markets for ACCA and also worked within the Strategy directorate of ACCA based in London.
In my dual roles, I was responsible for the continued growth and development of ACCA within Asia and provided support for ACCA’s offices in the region, including offices in Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia and Myanmar. I also oversaw ACCA’s developments in North Asia, South Asia and the rest of South-East Asia.
I speak regularly to ACCA’s key stakeholders in the region on key economic trends, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) accounting and policy updates and sustainability matters.
I graduated with First Class Honours in the Bachelor of Science in Business (Finance) programme at LancasterUniversity in the UK. There, he was the recipient of the Philip Andrews Memorial Prize for Economics and was the top of his graduating cohort. Reza is also a qualified accountant and is an ACCA member.
Prior to ACCA, I was an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers in London within the Assurance and Business Advisory Services (ABAS) division and subsequently joined a Singaporean brokerage firm that dealt primarily with government agencies in the South Asian subcontinent and managed the operations and finance divisions.
I have a diverse range of interests from corporate social responsibility and sustainability, history, languages, strategy, business as well as literature. I am also a passionate Liverpool and Leyton Orient fan!
